Growing Vegetables from Seed and Making Your Own Compost Saturday, March 31, 2012 10am – 2pm
Early spring is the time to start planting for your spring and summer garden! A healthy and productive organic garden is founded on good soil and strong seedlings. Nursery seedlings are often weak and bound to underperform; compost and fertilizers can be expensive. Join Ryan Wanamaker, Camp Stevens Garden and Farm Manager to learn how to create your own high quality compost, improve your soil organically, and start your own plants from strong seed. Learn how to develop productive soil and strong seedlings in this one-day, hands-on workshop focused on usable information and practical skills.
Our one-day workshops are $45/person and include homemade lunch in our Dining Hall. Reserve your spot early by calling the office at 760.765.0028, or sending a $25/person deposit to: PO Box 2320, Julian, CA 92036. Online registration will open soon |

Do-It-Yourself Mosaic for Home & Garden Saturdays: March 31, May 19, June 2 10am – 2pm $25/workshop
From laying out a design, to picking up the most useful (and affordable) materials, to covering your hands with grout and your surroundings with beautiful, lasting mosaics of tile and glass, this workshop will provide you hands-on experience with mosaic tiling, and a working knowledge of the entire process behind it. Mosaics are adaptable to countless spaces in a garden or a home, they're great projects to work on with kids or groups of friends, they're really easy to create, and yet they provide infinite opportunity for creative experimentation too!
Workshop is led by Eleanor Warner, who has worked with mosaics for over four years; she learned the craft with renowned local artist James Hubbell and has since completed several projects at Camp Stevens and elsewhere with the help of many, many children and adults.
Workshop fee of $25 includes a delicious lunch, as well as the chance to see several completed mosaic projects around Camp Stevens itself. This workshop is limited to 8 participants, so please reserve your spot by calling 760.765.0028 |
