Nature Preserve Beyond the central campus, Camp Stevens offers a preserve of more than 220 acres of pristine pine and oak forest, open meadows, small ponds and seasonal streams. The several distinct habitats of the preserve support more than 115 species of birds. You may also see deer, bobcat, wild turkey and coyote. Miles of hiking trails make the area ideal for both short walks and longer hikes, and from the “Upper Meadow” there are spectacular views in every direction.
Environmental Sustainability Camp Stevens’ mission is to be good stewards of this magnificent part of God’s creation and to model sustainable living. An extensive recycling program saves precious resources while composting food waste provides soil enrichment for our 2-acre organic garden. All recent buildings are fire resistant and have been designed to provide comfort and convenience with minimum energy usage. Photovoltaic arrays have been added to generate electricity from the sun.
