Staff Houses And Community Center Construction Has Begun! Volunteers Needed!

The footings have been dug, and the forms for the concrete are being built. When the rough plumbing is completed, the concrete slab will be poured.

The side walls and roof panels have already been built offsite and are scheduled to be assembled on the foundations here in January.

Once these are put together, there will be a series of work projects to help complete the interior work.

We need skilled carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and painters! With so many homes being rebuilt after the Cedar Fire, there is a real shortage of skilled craftsmen in the Julian area. In order to complete the two staff cabins and the community center, we are organizing an extended volunteer work program for skilled craftspeople. If you have any of the skills we need, this would be a wonderful way to contribute to the Focus on the Future Campaign!

The program will run for six weeks, Monday through Friday, April 20 through May 26. The camp will provide housing and food during the week, with everyone off on the weekends. We ask for at least a one week commitment to the project and hope that some people are interested in committing to several weeks. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Stuart Campbell at 760/765-0028.

Monetary donations to the Staff House Fund will also be greatly appreciated, and can be made through Visa or MasterCard by calling the Camp office, or with a check. Funds for the Community Center have been provided by a generous gift from Ok Cha Lee Mason in memory of her son Leonard Lee.
