Your contribution can go towards Camp Stevens mission to model responsible stewardship of God’s creation. The 2007 fire that destroyed over a dozen of our buildings has provided an opportunity to make our buildings far more energy efficient, and to model the use of sustainable materials as much as possible.

DSC_0642Group Tours and Classes

If your group is visiting us for a retreat we will gladly show you around the garden, as well as invite you to help us with seasonal tasks such as planting, weeding, making compost, and harvesting. A more instructional program such as a garden tour, a workshop on composting or soil management, etc., can also be designed for your group's needs. If you are interested in some taking advantage of program opportunities in the garden or spending time doing some seasonal garden tasks while you are here, please contact our Garden and Grounds Manager,

Youth Programs

Environmental Education, Single or Multi- Day Field Trips, Summer Camps, and Family Camps

If you know of a school class, a youth group or an individual child who would like to come to Camp Stevens to enjoy and learn from our gardens, wilderness, and community of other children please contact our office at (760) 765-0028 to inquire about the numerous opportunities that exist.

During a typical Camp Stevens Youth Program, campers interact with the garden, learning more about themselves and their connection to the natural world. The connection between composting food waste, tending the soil, growing vegetables, and the prepared food on the table, shows students how simple, inspiring, and critical it is for us to be active stewards in the struggle to maintain a healthy ecosystem for humans and all living organisms.

Campers have fun exploring the diversity of the garden, tasting new food, and getting dirty. Many kids find that the colorful patterns of flowers and available natural craft materials in the garden inspire creative group projects.

"The garden is diverse, with different shapes and sizes."

"Organic food is really cool."
